Providing young people with practical skills and knowledge allows them to follow their dreams with confidence.
With support from the Queensland Government’s Advance Queensland initiative
Our series of start your own business workshops, called We Can Be Heroes, help to build creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial skills in young Queenslanders who may have missed out on traditional education pathways. These individuals come from a wide variety of backgrounds and include young people with disabilities, those excluded from mainstream schools, refugees and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. With our support, these young people can have better access to a wide range of opportunities – they can be their own hero.
Marist180 worked with 18 young people disengaged from education, training and employment in 2015
A survey carried out after the workshop indicated that this initiative created positive change for the young people. It improved their knowledge of setting up a business, as well as their confidence and keenness to set up one of their own.
